01Terms of use

How Bangalore moves is a free, personal, non-commercial project run by Alabhya Vaibhav, an individual based in Bengaluru, Karnataka, India. By using the site you agree to these terms. If you don't agree, please don't use it.

You're welcome to use it, share it and link to it. Please don't:

  • try to break, overload, scrape or attack the site or the services behind it
  • fill the city-wide stats with fake or automated entries
  • use it for anything unlawful

I may change, pause or shut down the site, or any part of it, at any time and without notice.

02Disclaimer

  • Not to scale. Map positions are stylized. Distances, directions and sizes don't match the real city.
  • Not real traffic data. Commute times are entered by users. The city-wide stats are what visitors chose to submit, and they may be incomplete, unrepresentative or wrong. Until 200 real commutes have been shared, they also include a clearly labelled simulated baseline of generated commutes.
  • Artistic interpretations. The landmark drawings are loose sketches inspired by places in Bengaluru. They show no real logos or wordmarks. This site has no affiliation with, and is not endorsed by, any business, building owner, government body or organisation shown or named.
  • Not for navigation or planning. Don't use this site to plan a journey, choose a home or job, or make any other decision.

03No warranty, limited liability

The site is provided "as is" and "as available", free of charge, without warranties of any kind, express or implied. That includes any warranty that it's accurate, available, error-free or fit for a particular purpose.

To the fullest extent allowed by Indian law, I'm not liable for any indirect, incidental or consequential loss, or for loss of data, time, opportunity or profit, arising from your use of the site or your inability to use it. Where liability can't be excluded, my total liability to you is limited to ₹1,000. Nothing in these terms limits any right you have that the law doesn't allow to be limited.

04Your content

The names and commutes you type stay in your own browser (see the privacy page). If you opt into the city-wide stats, you give me permission to store and show the rounded, anonymous version of your commute as part of the combined totals. You can delete it any time from the privacy page.

05Chipping in

Payments made through the "Chip in" section are voluntary personal gifts to Alabhya Vaibhav. They aren't a purchase, a subscription or a charitable donation, and you don't receive any goods, services, access or rewards in return. They aren't tax-deductible. The money goes towards running and scaling the site, and the occasional treat for Bailey. UPI transfers can't be reversed through this site. If you sent one by mistake, email me and I'll do my best to sort it out.

06Ownership and licence

The illustrations, isometric map, text and code of this site are © 2026 Alabhya Vaibhav. All rights reserved. The source code is public on GitHub so you can read it, learn from it and report issues. Publishing it doesn't grant a licence to copy or redistribute it. Place and neighbourhood names belong to no one, and any trademarks mentioned belong to their owners.

07Other services and links

The site relies on Vercel (hosting), Supabase (city-wide stats) and PostHog (anonymous analytics). Their own terms and privacy policies apply to what they do. Links to other websites, such as GitHub, LinkedIn, WhatsApp and X, are provided for convenience. I'm not responsible for their content or practices.

08Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of India. Any dispute will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts at Bengaluru, Karnataka. If you have a problem, please email me first. Most things can be sorted out quickly.
